How to use a cash machine or ATM

I remember the first time I used a cash machine: I had really bad luck. When I entered my debit card in the cash machine and I dialed my password. Everything was OK, I was really excited, but when I finished the transaction the cash machine did not return my card. Of course, this problem had a solution, but the possibility of this happening was one in a million!

Getting money from a cash machine is pretty easy, you just need to follow the steps the screen indicates. In order to do a successful money withdrawal, you need to follow three simple steps: to enter your card, to dial your password and to wait for your money.

 First, go to the nearest cash machine you can find; it does not matter if the cash machine does not belong to your bank, it can be BBVA, Santander, Banco de Chile, or others: you can perform the transaction anyways. Next, enter your card. It can be a credit or debit card, depending on which account you want to get the money from. Wait for the menu to be displayed, it does not take more than five seconds.

 Second, dial your four-digit password. You can associate them with birthdates, the last four numbers of your mobile, addresses or simply your favorite numbers. After that, choose the kind of account that you want to get the money from, debit or credit account, depending on what kind of card you have. Then, choose the amount of money required, the screen is going to show you several options of amounts of money. If the amount you need is not among the options you can dial the bottom “others” and dial your own amount.

 Third, wait while the cash comes out and count the money to corroborate that it corresponds to the amount that you asked for. After that, dial the bottom with the option “no” if the transaction is ready and correct. Finally, wait for your card to be returned, and save it into your wallet or put it in your pocket so you do not lose it and avoid doing paperwork in case this occurs.

 To conclude, getting money from a cash machine is simple and easy. You only have to follow the instructions you see on the screen. If you are in trouble, do not worry, you can cancel everything and start all over again. But, watch out! Introduce the correct password and do not forget to cover it with your hand, so no one sees it.
